About Us

Owner, Jody Elsom, is a pioneer of the Seattle urban winery movement. Since 2006 Elsom Cellars has been producing brilliant Washington reds just south of downtown.

We decided to create the Adventure Uncorked wine series in celebration of the world around us, the joy of exploring artisan wines, and the beauty of creating community while doing both. Inspired by our adventurous spirits both as people and as winemakers, every bottle of Adventure Uncorked comes directly from our small urban winery to your table (wherever that may be). Take us along with you on your journey, and share a glass with a stranger turned friend when you do.

By staying connected as a community, we are inspired to keep creating more wines that honor our                Adventure Uncorked community and their stories.

Jody in her Element.jpg
THE BOSS

Jody’s a travelling spirit. If you ask her what inspires her, you get a million glimpses of the world she’s seen. This old world teaches us a lot, if we slow down and let it. And, if we sit across a table from a stranger with a couple glasses of great wine, before long, it’s surprising how much we all share. Wine gathers its taste from everything it encounters. The earth. The air. Everything leaves a mark. So do people.

Jody’s passion for wine began in the Napa Valley and further explored through numerous experiences in the vineyards and wineries throughout Italy and France. Formally educated as one of the first graduates from WSU’s extension studies of Enology. Jody has a passion for developing wines that best represent the possibilities for Washington wines.

THE WINEMAKER

Growing up in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, some of Rebecca's fondest outdoor memories were of summer stargazing away from city lights and Girl Scout backpacking trips in the Tahoe National Forest. Since then, her life adventures have taken her around the world to make wine in 4 countries on 3 different continents before settling in the Pacific Northwest.

One of the most fun ways of getting to know people from various backgrounds has been around a shared meal and a local bottle of wine.

Let the adventures begin!

THE GRAPHIC DESIGN & MARKETING WIZ

Allie is originally from Seattle, Washington. She moved to Oregon where she earned a BFA in Art and Technology at University of Oregon. While exploring Oregon’s backyard, she found her love and passion for art. Allie has spent countless days adventuring through forests and parks cataloging lichen, plants, fungi growth patterns, and microorganisms that influence her work. The bountiful flora found in the PNW show up in much of her personal and professional works.

Since finishing her studies, Allie has made her way back to Washington state and now lives and works out of the thriving artist community in Whidbey Island. She joined the Adventure Uncorked team bringing her expertise in graphic design, marketing, and unmatched creativity to the brand.

On a normal day, you will likely find her with a glass of wine near one of the many beautiful bodies of water in the area.

Kassie.jpg
THE WEARER OF MANY HATS

A born and raised Washingtonian, Kassie derives much of her adventurous spirit from the wilds of the Pacific Northwest. After completing studies in Recreation and Leisure Services at Western Washington University, she was able to take her degree, combine it with a little PNW spirit and coffee – and create a path in the tourism industry.

Once she returned from guiding and traveling throughout South America she spent time promoting Seattle as a destination. Kassie first met the Elsom team while working next door at Evergreen Escapes. Eventually, she found herself on the winery side of things as the Ops, Events & Tasting Room Manager. To Kassie, the sense of community you find while traveling is similar to the community you find when sharing a glass of wine.

SUMMER

In June and July we supported the GSBA Scholarship Fund through our bottle sales. Special thanks to the GSBA for their support and all of the important work they are doing to support students in our community.

The GSBA Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to LGBTQ and allied students who exhibit leadership potential, demonstrate strong academic abilities, and are actively involved in school and community organizations. Founded in 1990, the GSBA Scholarship Fund has awarded over 700 scholarships totaling over $4.5 million.

We participated in the Poverty Bay Virtual Wine Festival where a portion of all bottle sales supported the Rotary Club of Des Moines and Normandy Park.

The Rotary Club of Des Moines & Normandy Park works locally and globally through community involvement, volunteer work and service.  They donate thousands of dollars a year to local beneficiaries such as Highline Schools Foundation and their local Food Bank.

HELP SUPPORT THE ADVENTURE TRAVEL CONSERVATION FUND

NONPROFIT SPOTLIGHT

We wouldn't be here without our community backing us over the years, and we are so excited to be launching this second label in the hopes that our community will continue to grow and reach places we never thought possible.

With that in mind, it only makes sense that we give back where we can. That is why a portion of every bottle sold will be donated to a local nonprofit and their services. Each quarter we will feature a new nonprofit and tell you a little more about their story.

ATCF Logo.jpeg

The Adventure Travel Conservation Fund (ATCF) is a nonprofit that harnesses the travel community's environmental and cultural conservation efforts for maximum impact. The ATCF draws from a membership base of over seventy international gear and adventure travel companies, as well as on-the-ground organizations and partners, to identify critical conservation projects. This allows us access to, what would otherwise be, unknown projects and conservation needs in the most remote regions of the world. Over the past four years, the ATCF has awarded over $350,000 to 17 conservation projects in 16 countries around the world.

Leave No Trace

Adventuring is fun and fulfilling. We encourage you to keep getting out there, but when you do, please take care of Mother Earth.

Take our wine with you and tag us in a photo, but please don't leave the bottle behind. Enjoy a glass with a good view, but the bottle doesn't need a permanent view after being left wherever you may end up.

Practice the 7 Leave No Trace principles, and leave your destination cleaner than how you found it. Cleaning up can be an adventure in itself. Show us how you are helping keep our natural landscapes natural.

  • Plan ahead and prepare.

  • Travel and camp on durable surfaces.

  • Dispose of waste properly.

  • Leave what you find.

  • Minimize campfire impacts (be careful with fire).

  • Respect wildlife.

  • Be considerate of other visitors.

Adventure Responsibly

We want everyone to enjoy Adventure Uncorked wine, but safety comes first! Please plan ahead and and make the responsible choice when it comes to consuming wine.

Travel, adventure, and explore safely and responsibly. It is important to research more about your destination's culture and/or physical requirements before popping the cork.

Adventure on!
